BRIEF
A motion activated game where users learn about the different geological instances that could lead to discovering oil.
APPROACH
This game was coupled with a touchscreen version that allowed us to keep the floor version quite simple in terms of teaching information. In this version the art director was keen on ending the experience with the users jumping to drill for oil and then being able to interact with it.
After discussing how the hardware worked with the lead developer I was able to work on a game concept that would allow me to link all the elements together.
Using the concept of tag and wack-a-mole I was able to create a game where players had to collect 4 different geological instances represented by icons. To collect an icon, the player had to place themselves on it. Upon collecting all the different instances the drilling sequence was activated and an oil tank builds up below them and fills up with oil.
RESULTS
I was told this was a great success in the gallery as children were able to play in collaboration to collect all icons to drill for oil.
