BRIEF
The South London Botanical Institute wanted an interactive on mobile devices that they could distribute to visiting schools.
APPROACH
The interactive was comprised of 3 parts. ‘History’ a slideshow introducing the user to the rich history of the South London Botanical Institute (SLBI). ‘Explore’ which allowed the user to explore a selection of historical specimen that were collected by the SLBI. ‘Make’ an interactive hands-on experience allowing the user to discover the process of collecting a specimen for the SLBI’s collection. These 3 elements were accessible through the main menu.
After the client had signed off on concept design, I was tasked with developing the remaining stages of the interactive, refining the concept, creating the final assets and testing.
RESULTS
In a short amount of time I was able to achieve a short interactive experience loved by both young and old audience members. During school trips, the tablets are handed out on site by the SLBI team. This has allowed them to improve engagement from younger visitors and streamline the discovery of the site as most working members are volunteers.
