BRIEF

Self-directed R&D project to create a concept for a potential marketed prototype. I wanted to use the opportunity to broaden my skills and design freely without restrictions.

APPROACH

My design puts sound at it’s core, giving it a physicality. With sound being the leading force I went for simple melodious feedback tones, stripped back design and a focus on the sound recording itself.

Users would be able to record a sound and then visualise it as a virtual object. By uploading their creation to a 3D printer they create an objet d’art that preserves their favourite sound. With this prototype I was able to showcase how to visualise, materialise and immortalise sound.

RESULTS

I was able to create a short animation explaining my concept in a couple of days. Next stages would be create a more detailed drill down and develop a working prototype to pair with a 3D printer.
